Clots

Another character-building experience, then some nominally decent news on Rachal:

Seems she had a clot in her lung that was lowering the oxygen level in her blood, which contributed to her acting wonky. Like, falling over and not recognizing her mother, wonky. Rachal's mom had taken her to an appointment with her opthalmologist, and he called an ambulance once he got a look at her.

They've installed a filter in one of her main blood vessels to catch future clots before they wind up anywhere dangerous, leaving only a small hole on her collar where they did the procedure. (Rachal is reluctant to count this as a surgery, since they didn't really open her up; I maintain that anything which leaves even a small piece of hardware inside you is a surgery, unless it's a contact lens or a dental retainer).

There doesn't seem to be any permanent damage done; her eye surgery was done recently enough that I think they would have caught the low oxygen saturation then, if it had been present. She's been much sharper-witted in the hospital, but we're still somewhat concerned that her vision isn't recovering as quickly as the last time they did one of her eyes. They've got her lined up for therapy, since she's still not entirely steady on her feet, but I think that will improve as her various operation sites heal. In the meanwhile, she'll have a walker and a shower seat, and we may install guardrails around the apartment.

She's gotten pretty tired of being cut on, but I think she's done with that for the moment, and is improving again.

In the meanwhile, her mother cleaned our apartment while staying in town. I don't think the place has been this presentable since shortly after we moved in :>

Also, my production manager is back to work, and moving in a bit less of an elderly fashion each day. Which is good, because the jobs had been kinda piling up in his absence. Our salesfolk have been very forgiving about moving deadlines, but we were getting buried and now we're digging our way out.

Rachal should be home tonight, and we'll sleep in our waterbed in our shiny apartment. I'm looking forward to it.
