Almost entirely pleasant updates
Nov. 23rd, 2010 05:50 amSome thanksgiving follows. Mostly.
The big recent downside is that heading into the holidays, my commission income has dried up into not-quite-nothing. It will probably have an upswing later ...after my boss and I get back to town. In the meanwhile, we've been helped mightily by my in-laws, our patroness, and my mother. See how important the Oxford comma is? I'm available to proofread *your* printed pieces now, especially if you let our company print them later!
We've also been helped somewhat less mightily by the gift cards I won from a radio station last night ($100 to Kroger, $100 to Shell, and also an iPod shuffle -- my fourth iPod from this station; I'll see if my mother-in-law wants it).
We went to a somewhat low-budget production of "The Nutcracker" over the weekend, which Rachal had always wanted to see live. Parts of it were quite impressive -- the crowd favorite seemed to be the dancing Arabian Coffees; those two pulled off moves that would have done them proud at Cirque du Soleil.
Other big upside is that we are, I think, more than 50% likely to be moving within the year, with our patroness as new landlady. She's been shopping for duplexes lately, and I've been wiping drool off my chin every time we visit a new one and raise the floor of our collective expectations. The last one would put us in a place more than twice as large as our current apartment, all on the first floor. But it has existing tenants, so nothing is a lock yet. I'll keep you posted :>
I also may start taking nursing classes soon; I want to learn to give Rachal an I.V.
There have been too many times where her headache just required a banana bag to alleviate it, and we both dithered about whether it was worth spending four hours in the E.R., or at her neurologist's office.
