Mother-in-law update

rickvsRachal's mother is improving, to some extent. We'll get the results of her MRI later today, but in the meanwhile:
She appears able to recognize everybody now, and understand anything asked of her; it's her responses (both written and verbal) that are mostly blocked.
One quadrant of her face is slacker than the rest, but nothing is paralyzed.
She can talk and write in a very limited fashion, but that's much better than when she arrived at the hospital in her home town, where she not only wasn't talking but was actively combative, and not recognizing her husband. To no-one's surprise, he found it very difficult to watch them strapping her down, and eventually had to leave the room. As soon as they got her to the hospital in Houston, she calmed down, apparently recognizing it from her many previous visits.
We still dunno if she had a stroke, or if these symptoms are fallout from the gamma-knife procedure she had done earlier this year, or from additional brain tumors propagating from her skin cancer. (She has many more lesions on her face and shoulders than when I saw her last; some are smaller than blackheads, and the larger ones are dark and shiny, like spider eyes ...except these are the size of caviar eggs). More aggressive chemo may follow, but these stroke-like symptoms may have thrown a monkey wrench into the schedule.
