Anniversary dinner

Our anniversary evening was more than pleasant. I left work after only eight hours (early for me), which got me home while the sun was still out. After a brief cuddle, Rachal and I headed off to the Melting Pot. (If you're not familiar with this place, it's basically a romantically-lit fondue restaurant).


While waiting for our food, we entertained the waitstaff, what with Rachal tossing sugar packets at me and teaching me a clapping game she learned as a little girl. Most amusing were her attempts to get me up to full-speed on the clapping, long before I had the pattern encoded in my reflexes.

First course was a cheddar cheese dip, with much dipping of bread, veggies, and Granny Smith apple wedges. After that, a broth with teriyaki steak chunks and shrimp to dunk, and the waitress actually answered my question about how many fools undercook their own food here (answer: none so far; she watches them carefully).

Last was a dessert, Flaming Castrated Turtle. (Okay, Rachal declined to order it exactly like that, she just told them to leave off the pecans). Bowl of melted chocolate and caramel, with a plate of little marshmallows and brownies and pineapples and strawberries to dunk. Then home for a bath.

Rachal flavored the bathwater with a lavender fizzy ball she'd bought recently, which intrigued one of our cats no end. And when I came in to wash her back, I got to use my own new purchase: a bath mitt for kids, with cute puppets sewn onto the fingers: bunny wabbit, baby chick, butterfly, sun, etc... none of which were equipped to survive a water landing, and all of which therefore met 'orrible demises, to my own amusement if not Rachal's.

I got in the bath after Rachal was done, which I rarely do but will start doing more often. Rrrrr... relaxing.

Then off to an early bed. She's sleeping beside me now. It's nice to have a wife in town :>
