New production manager

I've been starting my workday at 3am the last couple of days ... primarily so I could push the "go" button on one of our vinyl-cutters, in an attempt to keep it hopping as close to round-the-clock as we could manage. We've got two largish jobs due Monday, which means we'll be coming in Saturday (and perhaps Sunday) to wrap it up.
Our previous production manager was given an invitation to the world a few weeks ago. Nice guy, but I think our new production manager (my former co-computer-operator) has a better skill set for motivation and organization than does either the ex-manager or myself. Mister Newly Promoted has made marked progress in just a couple of weeks, and I'm looking forward to the other changes he's got in the works. (It's not so much that he wanted the added responsibility, I gather, as that he didn't want to deal with a new hire coming in and flailing about. I sympathize).
